Destination Brazil

We have a special addendum to our usual Friday edition. Creative Team Member Matt Swinney just sent over an amazing snapshot of his recent jaunt to Brazil, signing off with an inspiring call to action.

L’ANZA Family,

Recently I made a trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil to work with our Distributor Oito. What I saw was nothing short of spectacular.

First stop: Hair Brazil, a hair show visited by 70,000 professionals, where the L’ANZA banner was raised high and proud. Oito’s booth was about 80′ x 25′ (think of a narrow basketball court) displaying images 10′ x 5′ images of different looks from L’ANZA Trend Collections, designed by our Creative Team. The L’ANZA presence was grand and a wonderful sight to see. I watched Oito Salon Consultants do record L’ANZA sales and do a month’s worth of buisness in four days!

In my travels I was also out visiting salons. I walked into one of the most prestigous salons in Sao Paulo (Wandale) – 136 stations big, ceilings two stories high, the smell of hot espresso and brazilian chocolate permeated the waiting area. As you walk back to the work stations you hear the chatter of stylists and their assistants (six per stylist), and their guests. This salon was truly a sight, words do not give it justice. As I was walking out to hit one of Sao Paulo’s hot night spots, I saw the retail area – marble floors, glass shelves with backlights, crisp white walls, and two young ladies waiting to answer any product questions one might have. Standing front and center, tall and proud was L’ANZA….Healing Strength, Healing ColorCare, Healing Moisture, Art Elements, etc. I asked one of the helpful retail assistants which product sells best? In broken English with a pleasing accent, she managed to mutter “L’ANZA”. I have seen a few salons in my life, but this salon was absolutely unreal.

Of all my travels, this trip was one of the most impressive. Amidst a concrete jungle, with nightlife that never slows down, Sao Paulo makes New York look sleepy. A place where you can eat a gourmet meal at 3am and youth and fashion are as common as a taxi driving by, L’ANZA stands at the top of its game.

So to all my L’ANZA stylists and salon consultants, I ask one favor. Let us, the country in which our products originate, start really spreading the L’ANZA philosophy and showing the quality of our product. Let’s tighten up our work and keep evolving this brand into one of the giants here at home.

peace and hair grease,

Matt
