We do not currently provide a “expiration date” on our packaging. Based on our challenge testing we feel that the shelf life on our products is 5 to 6 years. The lot codes below do not match our “lot code logic” but we turn color pretty quickly so I wouldn’t expect to have any shelf life issues.
Our lot code logic for L’anza Healing Hair Color is:
Batch Code Example:0369011:
036 – Julian Date of Filling (036 – Feb 05, 2010)
9 – Year filled (9 = 2009, 0 = 2010)
011 – Batch code (last three digits off of tote tag batch code) – unique code assigned to each batch
Thank you for your question! Here are some helpful details regarding L’ANZA and nut allergy concerns.
Healing Moisture line contains these tree nuts:
• Tamanu Nut Oil
• Kukui Nut Oil
• Macadamia Nut Oil
Here are the statistics:
• 1 in 100 people have an allergy to peanuts (L’ANZA does not use peanuts, which technically are considered “legumes”)
• 1 in 200 people have an allergy to tree nuts (types of nuts used in Healing Moisture)
Refined nut oils (heat processed) tend to have less of the allergy-causing protein, whereas cold-pressed nut oil has more. L’ANZA uses both cold-pressed and refined processes for extracting oil from nuts.
The chance or risk for an allergic reaction from any nut ingredient in hair care products is rare since it is not inhaled (air-born) or ingested. However, it can still be possible in some very rare circumstances. Topical sensitivity may occur such as skin redness or swelling. But once again, it’s very rare for hair care products. Based on our history, we’ve had people with Nut allergies use our products without issue. That being said, if a person with a nut allergy. still wants to use L’ANZA formulas that contain tree nuts, it may be advisable to first consult with their doctor or allergist just to be on the safe side.
Hypoallergenic means a product is not likely to cause an allergic reaction. It is formulated to reduce or minimize the possibility of an allergic response by containing relatively few or no potentially irritating substances.
Unfortunately, L’ANZA Healing Color is not hypoallergenic. Like all oxidative hair colors on the market, its purpose and function to deliver permanent color results requires that it contain ingredients that may cause irritation for some individuals.
All L’ANZA products contain fragrances, which means they are not hypoallergenic. Generally speaking, fragrances are most often the cause of allergic reactions. The reason is fragrances contain natural essential oils. Although these essential oils are plant-based, they also contain natural allergens. It’s similar to how some people are allergic to nuts even though nuts are 100% Natural and plant based.
At L’ANZA, we use the highest-quality, safest, most mild and gentle FDA approved ingredients in all products in an effort to prevent any type of adverse reaction. However, despite our multiple preventative actions, allergic reactions can still occur.
Unfortunately, this product has been discontinued, but we do offer great replacements to meet your hair needs!
A few other leave-ins we offer are our Moi Moi Moisturizing Mist and Trauma Treatment. You can purchase these at your nearest L’ANZA Salon through our Salon Locator.
